Speak – Communication & Language Development
Speak is an e-learning module that works in conjunction with the other modules of the programme, Arthur the Elf – Learn & Play.
Young learners, aged 4-7 years old, develop solid communication and language skills through stories, role play games, and activities.
The module offers an English & EAL version, a French & FLE version, and a Bilingual Education version.
The course is tailored to meet the needs of native speakers and language learners who have little or no knowledge of the target language.
The E-Learning Module
The e-learning module uses a distinct structure which consists in combining the following three resources we have created:
- Picture Storybooks: Each organised around three parts which are then followed by a vocabulary-building activity.
- Picture Role Play Books: The vocabulary covered in a story part is reinforced with a role play game. The idea is to push children to reuse the vocabulary learned in another context.
- Activity Books: After each part of a story and each role play game, children are given activities to complete. The activities are designed to consolidate the topics covered in a fun and productive way.
Each version of the module includes: lesson plans, progress assessments and more.
English, French & Bilingual Education
English & EAL (English as an additional language)
The module offers two options: Speak (English) and Speak (EAL).
Speak (English) is suitable for native English speakers aged 3-6 years old. The educational materials complement the British curriculum. Young learners increase their vocabulary range and develop comprehension skills.
Speak (EAL) is suitable for language learners aged 4-7 years old. Children are immersed in the target language and develop solid listening and speaking skills. The language is taught in its cultural context.
French & FLE (Français langue étrangère)
The module offers two options: Parle (Français) and Parle (FLE).
Parle (Français) is suitable for native speakers aged 4-6 years old. The resources complement the French curriculum. Children increase their vocabulary range and develop comprehension skills.
Parle (FLE) is suitable for language learners aged 4-7 years old. Children are immersed in the target language and gain strong listening and speaking skills. They also develop cultural awareness and understanding.
Bilingual Education (English – French)
The module Speak – Parle (Bilingual) is suitable for bilingual children aged 3 to 7 years old.
Children develop strong communication and language skills in both English and French. Young learners increase their vocabulary range and develop comprehension skills.
The module is suitable for children receiving a bilingual education (English -French).
