Read – Early Reading & Comprehension
Read is an e-learning module that works in conjunction with the module Write as well as the other modules of the programme, Arthur the Elf- Learn & Play.
The learning is done through flash cards, rhyming picture storybooks, and first reading picture storybooks.
The module offers an English & EAL version, a French & FLE version, and a Bilingual Education version.
The course is designed for children aged 4- 8 years old. It is suitable for native speakers and language learners who have completed the module Speak.
The E-Learning Module
The e-learning module is organised into the three integral parts:
- Flash Cards: The flash cards offer structured and fun activities designed to support the development of phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words and more.
- Rhyming Picture Storybooks: The rhyming picture storybooks work in conjunction with the flash cards.
- First Reading Picture Storybooks: Once the sessions with the flash cards and rhyming picture storybooks are completed, children move on to the first reading books. These are short stories organised by level and accompanied by vocabulary and comprehension activities.
Each version of the module includes: lesson plans, progress assessments and more.
English, French & Bilingual Education
English & EAL (English as an additional language)
The module offers two options: Read (English) and Read (EAL)
Read (English) is suitable for native speakers aged 4-7 years old. The educational materials (flash cards, rhyming books, and first reading books) complement the British curriculum (Reception & Key Stage 1).
Read (EAL) is designed for language learners aged 6-8 years old. Prior to completing this module, children must complete the module Speak and become proficient in the target language.
French & FLE (Français langue étrangère)
The module offers two options: Lis (Français) and Lis (FLE).
Lis (Français) is suitable for native speakers aged 5-8 years old. The flash cards, rhyming books, and first reading books complement the French curriculum (CP & CE1).
Lis (FLE) is tailored to meet the needs of language learners aged 6-8 years old who have completed the module Speak, and are proficient in the target language.
Bilingual Education (English – French)
The module Read – Lis (Bilingual) is suitable for bilingual children aged 5-8 years old.
The educational materials support children in developing solid language and literacy skills in both English and French.
The module is suitable for children receiving a bilingual education (English -French).
